About this place
One welcome touch at lunchtime is the mini curry served with set meals such as hamburger steak and ginger pork. One diner who ordered the hamburger steak praised the combination of a fried egg and richly flavoured demi-glace sauce, and enjoyed the small curry on the side. Another reported that the ginger pork set also came with a fried egg and mini curry, and that rice refills were available. It is a hearty option for lunch.
In the evening, horse sashimi makes a good centrepiece alongside other dishes and skewers. Diners have praised the horse sashimi, while some have also remembered the yakitori and chicken hearts. If choosing individual skewers feels difficult, try the set of 6, which includes asparagus-wrapped skewers, shiso-wrapped skewers, chicken wings and tsukune. You can add other favourites and enjoy a little at a time. For a meal to share around the table, there is also a special soy-flavoured motsu hot pot. The menu suggests adding special champon noodles to the remaining broth, making for a satisfying finish.
Bakan Sai in Nakano also lists set menus with 3 hours of all-you-can-drink. Options include salad, an assortment of skewers, dishes of the day and Neapolitan spaghetti to finish; another menu also includes horse sashimi. They make a suitable choice for a group meal.
